Trustee
I was born in a small mining village in Derbyshire. I started work as Mining Engineering Apprentice and am a qualified Mining Mechanical Engineer. I moved into teaching in 1969 and rose through the ranks to become headteacher at Baston Primary School before moving on to be headteacher at St Gilbert’s Primary School in Stamford. After two successful headships I was appointed as Senior Education Inspector for Lincolnshire. My long and varied career in education enabled me to work as a consultant at local, regional and national level. I was the first National Leader of Governance in Lincolnshire and in that role supported governance across many schools nationally.
I was delighted to be asked to become a Trustee for Don’t Lose Hope. I still marvel on a daily basis at the work the charity does to support the people of Bourne in so many ways. The four aspects of the charity, Counselling, Café, Shop and Community Garden provide an excellent service for people in need.
