Fees

Don’t Lose Hope receives no Government funding with which to provide our services and we must therefore charge a fee. However, our mission is to provide an accessible, affordable counselling service for the whole community, which is why we offer a sliding scale fee structure. The aim of the sliding scale is to make our counselling available to everyone, regardless of income.

Individual Adult Counselling:-

8 free sessions for those in receipt of the following (proof will be required at the initial free consultation).

  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Pension credit
  • Universal credit
  • Other recognised benefits (please contact us with any questions).

Fee scale:-

£20 per session  – household income up to £30k

£30 per session – household income above £30k

Children & Young People:-

8 free sessions for those in receipt of free school meals (proof will be required)

£20 per session – household income up to £30k

£30 per session – household income above £30k

We do not ask for proof of income but please note that your fee payment is a vital contribution to providing our service.  We ask therefore that you are honest when we agree the fee in the initial (free) consultation.

Ongoing Appointments

Ongoing appointments begin as soon as possible after the initial assessment. Due to our limited resources there may be a waiting period. At your initial appointment we will inform you of how long you should expect to be waiting.  Once you begin ongoing counselling you will be meeting with the same professional counsellor on an ongoing basis. This may not be the same counsellor you met in your initial (free) consultation.

Cancellation of Appointments

If, after confirming an appointment, you realise that you are unable to attend, you are kindly asked to contact us and let us know.  There is a huge demand for our limited services and if the appointment time doesn’t work for you it could be offered to someone else who is waiting.

Trainee Counsellors

We are in a working partnership with New College Stamford to provide their trainees with a high quality placement venue.  Counselling takes place with a trainee in their 2nd or 3rd year of training. These trainees are supervised by an experienced clinical supervisor. The counselling service manager will establish your suitability for working with a trainee. These sessions are offered free to clients who are happy to be seen by a trainee. Please note this is only available to people over 16.

Fees are payable by card or cash.
